Vasthusasthram
'Vas' means 'to dwell' or 'to occupy'. Vasthu means 'dwelling place.'
Vasthu Shastra is the set of guidelines prescribed by the Rishis,
so called learned men of ancient India for planning and constructing
our dwelling places which range from our homes, cities, states,
countries and eventually extend to our planet and the universe!
At VAASTHU
ARCHITECTS, besides functionality & creativity, VAASTHU principles
are used as an important parameter in planning & designing for any
facility, be it a residence or an Industrial Complex. Most clients
are aware of the importance of integrating Vaasthu principles in
their buildings. For those who are in doubt as to the relevance of
Vaasthu in modern day buildings, below is a brief description.
An
introduction to Vastu Shastra
- Do you get
up in the morning feeling refreshed, rested and ready to go?
- Does any
member of your family suffer from chronic health problems?
- Are you
satisfied with your relationship with your spouse or others?
- Is your
child's learning process enriched?
- When you
sit down to work at your desk, do you feel efficient,
effective and able to function well?
- Do you
wish you had more control over your finances?
- Do you
have good friends and helpful people in your life?
The energy
force that exists around us in our environment also exists
within us. The strength of our health, our level of motivation,
our ability to express ourselves, be creative, open our hearts,
stimulate our intellect, generate money, attract relationships
are all influenced by this force.
By erecting buildings and homes without consciousness or
awareness of how the 'interiors' and 'exteriors' affects the
energy balance (of the land), we inadvertently throw off the
natural energy field of the land. This imbalance subsequently
affects our body's internal energy fields. Everything around us
is alive within an energy field. It is important to understand
that a living environment intertwines with life in a significant
way.
The theory of Vastu is permanent and not bound by any time
barrier. Vastu guidelines are useful to individuals and the
society. It takes care of the health and happiness of the
individual, without compromising on the needs of the society and
the overall environment.
Thousands of years ago, it was believed that an invisible energy
force from the Earth's center was responsible for the way
certain locations thrived more than others and thus were more
inhabitable. This powerful life force that exists within all
things is the single most important factor influencing our lives
for better or for worse
The Earth's magnetic field, the solar energy and cosmic rays are
the fundamentals of Vastu Shastra. In the days of ancient India,
entire cities were constructed to harness the principles of this
science. This made sure that Local Energy Fields of the city
were well balanced. Thus, people had personal bio-energy systems
which were structured towards a greater level of inner harmony
and order.

Sacred Geometry
Sacred geometry is a fundamental ingredient of Vastu Design.
What is "sacred geometry"?
Wise men over the ages have noted patterns in nature
from the largest macrocosmic entities in the cosmos to the tiniest
microscopic particles, invisible to the naked eye. You could call
them laws of nature. These geometrical blueprints structure all
of creation. Buildings are a living organism, like the human nervous
system, and can be designed in "harmonic resonance" with
the basic underlying energy structure of the universe.
Vastu design (also spelt vasthu and vaastu) uses the fundamentals
of sacred geometry to create structures for human beings which,
due to their shape, size, orientation, and other factors, create
health, wisdom, happiness, successfullness, security, and prospertity
for their inhabitants - be they homeowners or business people.
"Space is energy filled or energy stuffed. If this energetic
space gets limited or enclosed by four walls then the building becomes
a living organism, having rhythmic vibrancy. Like the inner space
enclosed with-in our bodies, the house also feels and vibrates.
This rhythmic vibration is made to resonate with our inner vibrations
and by this resonance the indweller of the house is able to be in
harmony and communion with the universal space (Paramatma) and to
experience"
